Chronoyster - 30 May 1870

On 30 May 1870, the Metropolitan District Railway extended from Westminster to Blackfriars.

Embankment

Then called Charing Cross

The Northern line platforms at Embankment are curved, and there is certainly a gap that needs to be minded! In 2013, they re-instated an old announcement by the late actor and voice artist Oswald Laurence, after an appeal from his widow, for whom Embankment is her local station.

Temple

Then called The Temple

Blackfriars

If you need a ventilation shaft, at least make it look nice!

Open stations : 33

Next : 3 July 1871
